Perched nearly 900 meters above sea level, Teglio is one of the most charming villages of Valtellina, celebrated as the homeland of pizzoccheri. This traditional buckwheat pasta, layered with potatoes, seasonal vegetables, local Valtellina Casera DOP cheese, and Alpine butter, has become the symbol of the valley’s culinary heritage.

Since 2002, the Accademia del Pizzocchero di Teglio has safeguarded the authentic recipe, ensuring its preservation and quality in local restaurants. Teglio’s identity is deeply tied to its gastronomy. Throughout the year, the village hosts events such as the Pizzoccheri Festival and Pizzoccheri d’Oro, attracting visitors eager to taste this iconic dish in its birthplace.
